MOUNTAIN BIKING
Whether it’s adrenaline pumping down hills, or a nice cruise through the forest with your family, Tenaya LodgeSM and the surrounding Sierra National Forest have something for everyone.
In Yosemite
Although bicycles are not allowed off pavement throughout nearly all of Yosemite national park, the meadow loop in Wawona is the exception. Moderate climbs, sweeping turns and stream crossings make this a fun outing for the entire family or a nice way to loosen up for the hard core rider.
Physically and technically easy.
From the Tenaya Lodge Parking lot
Tenaya Falls – A 5-mile round trip along a gentle grade makes this an easy outing with the family or leisurely ride in the forest. A short walk takes you to our own secret waterfall.
Physicaly easy, technically easy. (unless you ride the last bit of single track to the falls!)
Nelder Grove Loop – A little bit of everything here, and a long day in the saddle. The long climb back from Nelder Grove, on single track, includes lush forests, stream crossings, and breathtaking views. The final challenge is an extremely steep, technical, rocky section (walk if you’re not experienced).
Physically demanding, technically challenging.
A Short Leisurely Drive down the road
Lewis Creek – Short but sweet. From the trailhead off of Hwy 41, this is 2 miles of mostly uphill single track along the creek to Sugar Pine. With some tight turns and rocky sections to work on your technical skills, this is a lot of fun if you’re short on time. From Sugar Pine, this ride can be extended to either Nelder Grove or Tenaya Lodge if you’re in the mood for an epic ride.
Physically – easy to moderate, technically moderate.
“007” –Located at the east end of Bass Lake on Central Camp Road, this is a downhillers favorite. The classic way to do this ride is climb the steady grades of Central Camp Road and descend the high speed technical trails - nine miles of aerobic overload up and a five mile adrenaline rush coming down. This ride is worth the 20 mile drive time.
Physically – challenging, technically – extremely challenging.
