This is an exclusive Yosemite National Park horseback riding experience through the legendary Mariposa Grove. What better way to get a glimpse into Yosemite's past than to visit these 2,000-year-old redwood trees the way John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt did, from the back of a good horse. . .
The Mariposa Grove is the largest grove of giant sequoia trees in Yosemite, and is located at the south end of the park near the Wawona area. There are two loop trails to hike: the lower grove (2.2 miles round-trip) and the combined lower and upper groves (6 miles round-trip). Highlights include the Fallen Monarch, the California Tunnel Tree, and the infamous Grizzly Giant; a 2,700 year old sequoia tree which is also the largest tree in the park. Directions: 1 mile down Jackson Road - 15 minute walk/5 minute drive each way.

Yosemite National Park Horseback Rides

We have three stables within the park boundaries, each offering unique scenery and a memorable experience. Visit one, or all three, to see more of the park. We love our mules, and you'll love them too! These trail-wise and surefooted animals are perfect for exploring the scenic and rugged terrain in Yosemite National Park. Combine that with their calm and even temperaments and you have the ideal partner for your trail adventures. If you prefer horses, we have more of them stabled in Wawona where the terrain is easier and more gentle. Cowboy up!

Enjoy 2 hour or half-day trail rides at Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite's high country. The 2 hour Tuolumne Meadows trail ride offers an excellent overview of Yosemite's high country. You'll visit Tuolumne View on the Young Lakes Trail, which is an ideal lookout point for Cathedral Range, Johnson Peak, and Mammoth Peaks.
The half-day ride visits Twin Bridges on the Tuolumne River just above Tuolumne Falls. Opportunities to take excellent pictures of the surrounding scenery are behind every rock and tree. Directions: Hwy 41 North to Yosemite Valley, CA-120/Tioga Pass Road to Tuolumne Meadows - approx 2 hour drive time each way.

The trail is often uneven, and consists of many switch backs up a steep slope, with an elevation gain of 1500'. This is a strenuous ride best suited to riders in good physical shape.
