Hiking
In Yosemite, the possibilities are endless and can range from easy half-day strolls to long and very challenging hikes. With so many hiking trails and so much to see, it is no wonder that Yosemite Park is a hiker's paradise! From the lodge, discover miles of backcountry roads through the tall timbers of the Sierra National Forest.
Backpacking
Spectacular scenery, mild weather, and nearly a thousand miles of trails make Yosemite National Park a backpacker's paradise. It has trails for all abilities and preferences, for a wonderful wilderness experience.
Mountain Biking
One of the best ways to see Yosemite's many magnificent sights is on a bicycle -- with more than 12 miles of surfaced bike paths on the valley floor. Or, bring your own or rent a bike at Tenaya Lodge and discover miles of backroads through the surrounding Sierra National Forest.
Golfing
Yosemite's Wawona Golf Course was the first regulation course in the Sierra Nevada when it opened in 1918 -- and has provided golfers challenging but rewarding rounds ever since. It was designed by Walter G. Favarque to blend seamlessly into its spectacular surroundings.
Fishing
Yosemite offers some excellent fishing with hundreds of miles of river and lake shore access. Nearby Bass Lake offers beautiful shorelines to catch native trout, bass and more.
Downhill Skiing
Since its opening in 1935, Yosemite's Badger Pass has been a favorite vacation spot for generations of skiers. Today, California's original ski resort in the spectacular Sierra Nevada is still an ideal family-friendly place to learn to ski.
Skating on Ice
Gliding along a sheet of ice is fun for all ages and abilities, and Tenaya is delighted to announce the installation of an open-air ice rink. The sparkling white ice rink measures an expansive 80 feet by 40 feet, and is open for day and night skating.
Mountain Bike Romance Picnic
Our backyard offers over 50 miles of trail for you to get-away. The romance picnic includes 2 bike rentals, 2 lunches, a bottle of wine and a backpack to keep.
Waterfall Bike and Hike
Enjoy the scenery while biking and hiking through the forest to a secret waterfall. Enjoy a relaxing picnic by the waterfall. The ride is a five mile round trip and takes 2 1/2 hours.
Geocaching Challenge
Geocaching is the new adventure game utilizing high-tech GPS technology. By using a hand-held GPS, Tenaya guests search for hidden treasure in the national forest surrounding the hotel. The caches are located along trails that wind through towering trees, grantie groves, whispering creeks and mountain meadows.
One T-shirt per GPS unit awarded to those who successfully find the cache.
