The picturesque, Mother Lode town of Coulterville is rich in history, with many treasures on display at the Coulterville museum. The local Hotel Jeffrey built in 1851, has entertained the likes of John Muir and President Theodore Roosevelt. In 2014 it experienced a major fire (the fourth in its long history) and is currently closed, but still standing. Take the downtown walking tour to see why Coulterville is a California State Historical site. Located east of Modesto at the juncture of Highways 132 and 49, just north of Mariposa.
