Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite is located 62 miles north of Fresno International Airport (FAT) on California State Highway 41 and 2 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite.

During the winter months, snow chains may be required on State Highway 41 or Highway 49. For highway information and snow chain requirements, please call 800-427-7623.

When chain control is in effect, all vehicles (including four-wheel drive) must carry tire chains. In extreme weather conditions, even four-wheel drive vehicles will require chains.

Driving Directions to Tenaya Lodge

From Fresno International Airport

  • Start out going northwest on E Clinton Way and make an immediate U-turn onto E Clinton Way.
  • In 0.2 miles E Clinton Way becomes N Peach Ave.
  • After 0.8 miles, merge onto CA-180 W.
  • In 2.22 miles take Exit 59B onto CA Hwy 41 N toward Yosemite.
  • Stay on Hwy 41 for 57.8 miles and arrive at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, 1122 Highway 41.

From San Francisco Airport to Tenaya Lodge

  • Highway 101 South to Highway 92 East, across the San Mateo Bridge
  • Highway 92 East to Highway 580 East
  • Highway 580 East, which transitions into ROUTE 205 East
  • Highway 205 East to Highway 120 East
  • Highway 120 East to Highway 99 South
  • Highway 99 South to Merced
  • In Merced, take Highway 140 East to Mariposa (Yosemite Exit)
  • Upon entering Mariposa, make a sharp right turn onto Highway 49 South
  • Highway 49 South to Oakhurst
  • At the junction of Highway 41 and Highway 49 turn left onto Highway 41 North
  • Continue North to Tenaya Lodge approximately 12 miles.

From Los Angeles and Southern California to Tenaya Lodge

  • Interstate 5 North toward Bakersfield
  • Interstate 5 and Highway 99 junction, continue on Highway 99 North to Fresno
  • Exit on Highway 41 North to Oakhurst traveling approximately 48 miles
  • Continue North to Tenaya Lodge traveling approximately 12 miles

From Sacramento to Tenaya Lodge

  • Highway 99 South to Merced
  • In Merced, take Highway 140 East to Mariposa (toward Yosemite)
  • Upon entering the town of Mariposa, make a sharp right turn onto Highway 49 South
  • Continue on Highway 49 South to Oakhurst
  • At the junction of Highway 49 and Highway 41, turn left onto Highway 41 North
  • Continue North to Tenaya Lodge traveling approximately 12 miles

Total Driving Time: 3.5 Hours (est.)

Caution: If using a mapping website for driving directions, do not take Worman Road or Miami Mountain Road. These roads are rural, unpaved roads made for four wheel drive and recreational vehicles only.

Public Transit

From Fresno or Yosemite Valley (Summer Only)

During the summer months, YARTS, the Yosemite Area Rapid Transit System, has regular bus service between Tenaya Lodge and Fresno Airport, as well as other destinations along the way.. They also offer service between Tenaya Lodge and destinations in Wawona and Yosemite Valley. Please see the YARTS website for a complete schedule of the Fresno to Yosemite route.

    From San Francisco or Oakland Airports (Summer Only)

    Both San Francisco and Oakland Airports are served by the BART commuter train.

    • Take BART for either airport to the Coliseum station in Oakland. See the BART website for details.
    • Transfer to Amtrak. Depending on schedules, you can either take Amtrak by train to Merced and from there by bus to Yosemite Valley. From Yosemite Valley you can take the YARTS bus to Tenaya Lodge. Alternatively, you can take Amtrak to Fresno and transfer to YARTS in Fresno.
    • Take YARTS to Tenaya Lodge.

    2016 and 2017 YARTS season for Highway 41

    • 2016 season: the YARTS line on Highway 41 will close for the 2016 season at end of day on September 30, 2016.
    • 2017 season: the 2017 YARTS season for the Highway 41 line will begin on May 15, 2017 and run through September 15, 2017.
